Matthew J. Dillig, as Chief Investment Officer of his team at Hightower Advisors, directs the investment strategy for their 35 family clients. His focus is to help craft an appropriate investment policy, a long-term strategic asset allocation plan, while considering shorter-term tactical opportunities and risks. All of this is done within the context of a client’s personal financial goals and philosophical views on investing and social impact.
Matt spent the first ten years of his career working in the Private Banking and Investment Group at Merrill Lynch. In 2008, Matt and his team joined Credit Suisse, where they spent over four years before departing in 2012 to help start the Chicago-based independent firm, HighTower Advisors.
Matt grew up in a family of seven children in the Milwaukee area. He attended Marquette University High School, followed by the University of Wisconsin, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Consumer Finance.
Matt serves on the Board of Directors for HighTower Advisors as well as Vertiport Chicago, and now the Wood Family Foundation.
Matt is also a dedicated husband, father and basketball coach. He and his wife, Dr. Gina Dillig, have 4 young children and reside in Winnetka, IL.
Ted has advised ultra-high net worth families for the past eleven years. Ted spent the first four years working at Merrill Lynch in the Private Banking and Investment Group; and, in 2008, Ted joined Credit Suisse, along with Matt and Brian.
Prior to entering the wealth management industry, Ted worked for several start-up companies (Parson Group, Orbit Commerce, and Scribe) in senior management roles. Immediately after graduating from business school, he worked for Crate&Barrel in myriad capacities, including opening key new markets (New York and Atlanta) and working with a management consultant on several critical financial and operational projects.
Ted graduated from Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg School of Management in 1992. During his sophomore year, he and his wife studied at the Copenhagen Business School. Ted graduated from the Honors Program at Loyola University of Chicago with distinct honors, spending his junior year in Rome at the Gregorian University in Rome. In 1982, he graduated from Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Illinois.
Ted and Gieriet have 5 children, and they reside in Hobe Sound, Florida.
Brian’s main focus is running our team's execution platform. He runs all equity, option, bond and currency trading. He also conducts research and assists with security and fund selection. Brian lends support to our performance reporting team for special projects and custom solutions. And, at the inception of a new client relationship, Brian analyzes a client’s existing balance sheet and tax basis, helping to map out a smooth transition plan and a proposal for new deployments with our team.
Brian graduated with a degree in Finance, Investment and Banking, with honors, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to joining the team in 2007, he spent time as an Investment Banking Analyst for both Merrill Lynch and Robert W. Baird.
He currently resides in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago with his wife, Jamie and their daughter, Brynn.
Ted Denapoli is the team’s head of equity. He focuses on equity investment analysis and provides market commentary, insights and portfolio strategy. Ted has a diverse background in the financial markets. Over a twenty year career at the Chicago Board of Trade and the CME Group, he gained a deep knowledge of commodities, futures and options; in addition to developing a passion for value investing. He considers himself to be a long term investor focused on business and financial analysis. To build on his passion and avocation, Ted attends the yearly CSIMA Conference held by The Columbia Business School and The Heilbrunn Center for Graham & Dodd Investing in New York.
Ted received his B.A. in history from the University of Southern California in 1993. He and his wife Julia, along with their children Finn and Chase, reside in Winnetka, IL.
Brendan supports the team’s business development activities. He focuses on growing the practice through client recruiting efforts and strategic partnerships with COIs. His responsibilities include the development and implementation of organic and inorganic growth strategies, and communication and outreach initiatives.
Brendan joined the Dillig Bowen Group in 2016 after spending more than 18 years at the CBOT and CME Group. Prior to HighTower, Brendan held a variety of positions focused on trading and risk management. Most recently, he served as the President of Cashco, Inc. Throughout his trading career, he developed a deep understanding of both the fundamental and technical aspects of the financial markets. His experience includes trading futures and options in equity, bond and commodity markets.
Brendan graduated from Boston College with Bachelor of the Arts degrees in both Philosophy and Human Development. He also annually attends value investing seminars at the Heilbrunn Center at Columbia University.
Brendan is both a contributor and an active volunteer for several philanthropic organizations, including Boston College, the 100 Club of Chicago, William Guy Forbeck Research Foundation, Geneva Lake Water Safety Patrol and The American Ireland Fund.
He currently resides in Winnetka, IL with his wife, Danielle and their children, Maeve and Liam.
David joined the Dillig Bowen Group in 2017 after spending the last 2 years with Morgan Stanley Global Wealth Management. Prior to Morgan Stanley, David spent 15 years as a derivatives trader with Torus Capital and Wolverine Trading. He has broad experience with both equity and fixed income options and futures.
David graduated with a degree in Finance, from Arizona State University. He and his wife Jenny, along with their 2 children, reside in Winnetka, IL.
As the team’s Chief Operating Officer, Angela’s primary focus is the integration and management of all aspects of the client experience. She works closely with the Managing Directors to deliver extraordinary client service and to build trustworthy and reliable relationships with every client of the Dillig Bowen Group.
Angela manages the daily operations of the team, including investment program execution, performance reporting and ongoing custodial relationships. She communicates with each family regularly to maintain their personal balance sheet, which includes assets not under the team’s management. This helps inform our investment professionals when making allocation decisions. Angela also oversees our tax reporting efforts. She acts as liaison between our client and their Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in an effort to streamline the process and reduce the burden on all parties.
Angela has been working with ultra-high net worth families for over 10 years and joined the Dillig Bowen Group in 2012 from Smith Barney.
Angela graduated with honors from DePaul University in Chicago with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance. She currently resides in Palatine, IL with her husband and two dogs.
Claire joined the Dillig Bowen Group in 2014 after starting her career in financial services in 2013 at HighTower with the marketing department. She focuses on business operations, supporting the advisors’ day-to-day activities, as well as managing the practice’s administrative and clerical needs. She is also responsible for the team’s marketing efforts, including digital marketing, website maintenance and client communication support.
Claire is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Communication degree in Marketing from DePaul University in Chicago. She resides in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago with her dog.
