Barbara C. Archer, CFP®, CLU®, AEP®

Managing Director, Partner

Barbara Archer is a Managing Director and Partner of HighTower St. Louis.

Prior to HighTower, Barbara founded Archer Wealth Management, LLC, in 1983. The independent wealth management firm offered high-net worth-families, executives, professionals and business owners a diverse suite of financial management solutions, including investment, estate and gift planning strategies.

Barbara has received several industry awards and recognitions for her investment acumen, including “Barron’s 2016 “Top 1,200 Financial Advisors” and Barron’s 2012 and 2013 “Top 1,000 Financial Advisors.” Barbara has also been named to Worth’s “Top 250 Advisors” list and Forbes’ “Leading Wealth Managers of the Central United States” list.

Barbara is a member and past President of the St. Louis Chapter of the Financial Planning Association and a member and a past Board Committee Chair of the Estate Planning Council. Barbara has spoken frequently on all aspects of wealth management and lectured on practice management to the financial planning industry.

Barbara earned her Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Dayton. She is a Registered Representative and Investment Advisor Representative with Hightower Advisors and holds the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP™), Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) and Accredited Estate Planner® (AEP®) designations.

Barbara serves on the Board of the St. Louis Zoo Association and Planned Giving Advisory Committee, and is a Lifetime Board member and past President of Center of Creative Arts (COCA). She is a St. Louis Children’s Hospital Legacy Advisor, serves on the Women’s Foundation of Greater St. Louis Advisory Board, and is a member of Mercy Health Foundation’s Women with a Mission and St. Louis Forum.

In addition to her volunteer activities, Barbara and her husband, Steve, enjoy golf, travel and water sports, as well as spending time with their two grown children who live in the area.

Carol L. Rogers, MBA, CPWA®

Managing Director, Partner

Carol L. Rogers epitomizes the blend of business, financial and investment acumen plus the interpersonal skills of attentive listening and clear communication that are critical for a wealth manager. Over her 30+ year career, these abilities have been recognized many times with national recognition from publications such as Barron’s and Wealth Management. Ms. Rogers began her investment advisory career at E.F. Hutton in 1976. As one of E.F. Hutton’s leading brokers, Carol became a Vice President and a member of the Chairman’s Council. In 1986, she resigned from E. F. Hutton to form the predecessor of Rogers & Company Wealth Management.

A Managing Director and Partner of HighTower St. Louis, Carol has been recognized on Barron’s “Top 1,200 Advisors by State” list (formerly Barron’s “Top 1,000 Advisors by State”) in 2009, as well as from 2011-2016. She was also ranked on Barron’s “Top 100 Women Financial Advisors” list in 2009, 2010 and 2013, as well as among Wealth Management’s “Top 100 Independent Advisors in America” in 2009. In April 1997, Carol was named Broker of the Year by Registered Representative magazine, a respected industry publication. She was also profiled in the October 2000 issue of Research Magazine and is quoted regularly in Registered Representative, Research Magazine and Horsesmouth.com, a nationally-recognized internet resource for financial advisors.

Carol holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri in conjunction with the University of Sofia, Tokyo. Carol was also a member of the first class to receive the Certified Private Wealth Advisor certification (CPWA). The CPWA is an advanced designation through the University of Chicago’s Booth Graduate School of Business. It was created specifically for financial advisors and consultants who work with high-net-worth clients on the life cycle of wealth: accumulation, preservation and distribution. She is a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association.

Carol is a strong believer in “giving back.” She serves on the Board of Benedictine College and is a member of the executive MBA Alumni Board for Washington University and the Women’s Venture Forum at Washburn University. She was invited as a guest participant at the 1996 National Security Seminar for the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle Barracks in Pennsylvania. In addition, “L”, as she is fondly called in the office, is a donor advisor for the HighTower St. Louis Charitable Foundation (formerly Rogers & Company Charitable Foundation, established in 2006) to provide inner city scholarships. Carol has also served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Security Professionals in Washington, D.C.

Omar Qureshi, CIMA®, CPWA®

Managing Director

Investment Strategist

Omar Qureshi has personally executed analysis for numerous high net worth clients. His evaluations included asset allocation, portfolio modeling and a breadth of wealth management issues   utilizing sophisticated quantitative techniques. Omar has developed a custom analytical approach that begins with a client’s current financial situation. This is followed with projections for potential future scenarios, which are each subjected to demanding financial “stress” tests and adverse condition scenarios. The goal is to help enable clients to better recognize, or avoid, costly mistakes in investment decisions.

Omar’s proficiency in technology and investment analysis has augmented the existing institutional capabilities at HighTower St. Louis. Adding his respected knowledge to our current competencies facilitated the development of a customized investment process. Today, this process forms the backbone of our clients’ disciplined investment plans. In addition to being the leader of the HighTower St. Louis Investment Management Committee, Omar’s responsibilities include the analysis of investments and portfolio strategists, financial simulations, modeling plus monitoring ongoing performance.

Omar graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems and a minor in Economics. He holds various securities registrations, including the series 4 registered Options Principal. Omar has also earned one of the most rigorous designations in the securities industry, the Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) designation. The CIMA® program, conducted through the Wharton School of Business, is a comprehensive study and examination of advanced portfolio management concepts and processes, in addition to investment ethics.

Omar was a member of the first class to receive his Certified Private Wealth Advisor designation (CPWA). The CPWA is an advanced designation through the University of Chicago’s Booth Graduate School of Business. It was created specifically for financial advisors and consultants who work with high-net-worth clients on the life cycle of wealth: accumulation, preservation and distribution.

Omar is also a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association  , and a donor advisor for the HighTower St. Louis Charitable Foundation (formerly Rogers & Company Charitable Foundation, established in 2006) to provide inner city scholarships. He also serves as a Board Member of Havenhouse.

Omar and his wife, Corinne, have three children, which has given them a whole new understanding of financial planning! When not at the office, Omar enjoys tinkering with technology and playing tennis.

Mark Schweiss, CFP®, CPA, CFA®, AEP®

Senior Wealth Advisor

Mark Schweiss is a Senior Wealth Advisor at HighTower St. Louis. He brings more than 20 years of experience in personal wealth management and small business finance management to the team.

With a passion for the financial planning process, Mark focuses on helping clients reach their financial goals with efficient and effective strategies. Mark is the cornerstone of the financial planning relationship, and is involved in all functions of financial planning, including cash flows, investments, insurance, tax management, retirement analysis and estate planning. He oversees investment and portfolio management and is responsible for execution of the firm’s investment strategy.

Prior to HighTower, Mark served as a Vice President of independent RIA Archer Wealth Management. Mark served as a key member of wealth management teams, including the Moneta Group in St. Louis, Wealth Enhancement Group and Wells Fargo Advisors in the Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul area.

Mark earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from St. John's University in Collegeville, MN. He is a Registered Representative and an Investment Advisor Representative with HighTower Advisors. He currently holds the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) and Accredited Estate Planner® (AEP®) designations

Mark has been involved in a variety of charitable organizations throughout his professional career. He and wife, Lisa, are avid sports enthusiasts. He continues to play senior league baseball and enjoys the Central West End and its close proximity to Forest Park.

Brian Copeland, CFP®

Wealth Advisor

Brian Copeland’s knowledge of holistic wealth management is well-rounded, proficient and experienced. In working with families, professionals and business owners, his experience extends beyond addressing portfolio management needs. Brian understands that incorporating retirement planning, tax planning, risk management, and estate or budgeting analysis helps him provide an integrated basis to help clients make informed financial decisions.

As a cornerstone to the financial planning process, Brian uses his passion to develop a review and analytical process clearly aligned with our practice’s philosophy of providing advice designed to support a client’s desired lifestyle. His solutions are flexible and built to comprehensively address a client’s situation, focusing on their specific issues, needs or concerns. The objective is to integrate key financial needs and goals with observations and recommendations which support a client’s personal aspirations.

Prior to joining HighTower, Brian coordinated the financial planning efforts at Rogers & Company Wealth Management and served as a member of the Rogers & Company Investment Management Committee. He leverages his keen mind and analytical skills to research and assess client portfolios, keep the big picture in mind, and fit together the pieces of a holistic wealth management plan.

Brian holds the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation. He is held to rigorous ethical standards of the CFP® Board of Standards, including ongoing continuing education requirements. He brings this passion, experience and excellence to bear when providing advice and analysis for our clients, as well as important matters for our practice.

Brian and his wife, Cassie, enjoy traveling and doing anything outdoors from playing sports to gardening, though daughter, Brie, and son, Miles, will soon insist that bike-riding and roller-skating be included.

Neal Furlong, ChFC®, CLU®

Neal Furlong brings more than a quarter century of comprehensive wealth management experience to his clients. A former college football player, Neal understands the value that sound fundamentals, discipline and consistent execution can bring to situations. His approach begins with a solid foundation of financial planning, which includes asset accumulation and management, retirement planning and key estate planning issues. For business owners, he provides a breadth of key services, from executive and owner benefits to advanced succession planning.

Neal combines a thorough understanding with an innate skill of translating the complexities of modern finance into understandable concepts. This is the key to helping clients feel more comfortable in making ongoing decisions that occur over a lifetime. Neal’s deep experience with closely-held businesses, executives, professionals and their families has strengthened HighTower St. Louis’s existing resources and provides a valuable enhancement to the team’s approach. Neal’s responsibilities range across the spectrum of wealth management services offered by our practice, particularly in asset allocation, planning and risk management issues.

Neal is a graduate of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale with a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Journalism. He is certified as a Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) through The American College, which is one of the most rigorous educational programs for financial services credentials. In addition, Neal is a Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®), a designation for insurance professionals seeking to obtain and sustain a high level of specialization in key areas of insurance planning, estate and retirement issues, taxation, business insurance, and risk management. He serves on the Board of the St. Louis Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals.

Neal has two grown children daughter, Tierney and son, Jackson.  Neal is a sports fan who loves to travel and stays athletically active outdoors as well as a little yoga and gym work.  He also enjoys the diverse venues and restaurants that St. Louis has to offer.

Laura Boedges, RICP®, CDFA™

Equipped with an inquisitive mind, a broad range of business experience, instinctive communication skills and a passion for helping people, Laura J. Boedges’ move to wealth management seemed preordained. In 2009, she was recruited to make a career move to wealth management. The insights and advice she brings to business owners, retirees, divorcees and professionals is the kind of common sense wisdom that investors often look for in a professional advisor.

Laura holds the designations of Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA™) and the Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®). Her diverse background and experience complement the HighTower St. Louis team approach.

Laura’s knowledge and skills, within a professional team approach, enable her to assist clients in the complex aspects of their wealth management needs, from education to strategic planning, estate planning to succession considerations for business, all the way through investment portfolio review and complex wealth management issues.

Laura is particularly interested in helping couples and individuals navigate divorce. As a member of the Collaborative Family Law Association of St. Louis, Laura actively works to promote collaboration as a healthier, more constructive way to divorce. As a way to support that effort, she presents Second Saturday St. Louis, a divorce workshop for women, which is offered to those who are either interested in or already in the process of divorce.

As a CDFA™, Laura’s focus is on helping divorcing couples’ create financial settlements that work not just for the present, but for the future as well. She believes a well-crafted settlement will take complex tax implications into consideration, as well as a long-term view of the financial stability of both partners. She strives to help reduce or avoid the need for trips back to the legal system for modifications to agreements. Ultimately, the couple may be better equipped to have a peaceful co-existence post-divorce, benefitting not just them, but their families as well.

Laura has dedicated her career to purpose-driven financial planning. With conversations based on a client’s life vision and goals for themselves and their families, Laura and the HighTower St. Louis team craft life plans with the goal to help clients feel confident, make retirement financially comfortable, and create pathways that support rewarding lives. Karen Meers, FLMI, ACS, AIAA

Client Service Manager

Karen Meers, Client Service Manager, has deep operations and client support experience with insurance and financial planning professionals. She is responsible for assisting the team with all areas of client service to ensure timely and accurate management of investment accounts, including establishing new accounts, transfers, contributions, redemptions, address changes and beneficiary changes.

She started her career at MetLife, was with Prudential Financial for 26 years and has been in the wealth management industry since 2006. She holds Series 6, 26, and 63 registrations and is licensed for life and health insurance in Missouri. Professional designations include: Fellow, Life Management Institute (FMLI); Associate, Customer Service (ACS); and Associate, Insurance Agency Administration (AIAA) from the Life Office Management Association.

Karen lives in St. Charles, Missouri with her husband, Steven. Her passion is her family, and they enjoy spending time with their three grown sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren. Karen’s community service involvement has included volunteering at school, church and organizing blood drives. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, walking and attending community events.
Shannon Workman

Shannon Workman

Registered Associate

Shannon D. Workman’s pragmatic knowledge and understanding of financial advice has been honed over two decades of hands-on experience. Shannon’s career began on an advisory services team for a St. Louis firm providing advice for a fee rather than commissions. During the early days of fee-based planning, Shannon recognized the growing importance of carefully integrating financial planning objectives with the then emerging technology that led to an explosion of global asset classes, management methodologies and investment vehicles.

To immerse herself in meeting the goals and objectives of financial planning clients, Shannon went to work for Bridge Trading Company, an institutional agency brokerage firm trading securities for financial institutions worldwide. In her role as an institutional equity trader at the firm’s headquarters in St. Louis, Shannon oversaw large trading orders for institutional investors, such as mutual funds, hedge funds and trust companies. The experience gave Shannon the opportunity to observe the investment strategies and tactics of managers, as well as a wide array of investment philosophies.

Shannon’s interest in assisting individual investors, led her to manage an office for a national financial planning firm. While there, Shannon was introduced to Neal Furlong, and eventually joined his team, where she managed office operations and provided clients with service and assistance.

Shannon attended the University of Kansas, earning a degree in Communication. She currently holds the Series 7 and 63 licenses. She is an avid sports fan who is particularly passionate about KU Jayhawk basketball, as well as any game that either of her two sons, Evan and Aidan, are playing. Shannon enjoys riding bikes, exercising and playing sports with her sons and husband, Andrew, along with spending time with the family’s two dogs.

Operations Associate

Client-centric wealth management is a business where promptness, attention to detail and problem solving are critical. It also involves the ability to think on one’s feet and deal with a spectrum of personalities and preferences in an ever-changing environment. Kathy Harris leverages these qualities as an Operations Associate.  

Prior to joining HighTower St. Louis, Kathy had a deep background in managing various aspects of several small businesses. Kathy uses her common sense and flexibility to jump in at key times on important projects where she applies her skills and experience to identify issues and help create effective solutions.


Deborah L. Wicks

Deborah L. Wicks

Office Administrator

Debby Wicks is the Office Administrator at HighTower St. Louis. Her attention to detail and organization skills enhance the team’s ability to serve clients.

Debby is a Notary, and manages client contact operations and special events planning. She is the key person for appointment scheduling. She makes each of our guests feel welcome while ensuring timely and efficient meetings.

Prior to HighTower, Debby served as the Director of Communications for independent RIA Archer Wealth Management and has experience in communications, executive support and human resources with Caesars Entertainment, HOK Architects, PriceWaterhouse Coopers, and Dun and Bradstreet.

Debby is a lifelong St. Louisan and certified SCUBA diver. She enjoys exploring exotic countries and achieved circumnavigator status when she completed a solo trip around the globe by plane over a three-month period. Organizations she supports include the Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition as an Old Bags™ committee member, and Humane Society of Missouri as a Women’s Leadership Council member.

She is a single mother to Savannah. Their family pets include two boys, both rescues: Cosmo Kramer and Hamlet.
