Adam Thurgood, CFA, joined HighTower in 2012 as a Managing Director and Partner. Adam began his career in the financial services industry in 2000 with Prudential Securities. He was a Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager in Merrill Lynch’s PIA Program. Adam’s role at HighTower continues to be on managing client portfolios. He leads the team’s proprietary research and investment process, which focuses on helping clients achieve their goals while properly managing risk. Adam graduated Magna Cum Laude from UNLV with a degree in Finance and was an ITA Scholar-athlete while playing tennis for the Rebels. His dedication to learning continued as he went on to earn the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, as well as a Master’s degree in Banking and Financial Services Management from Boston University. Adam is regularly quoted in the financial press and is a frequent guest on CNBC, as well as various radio programs.
Adam is an ardent supporter of financial education. He serves as an adjunct finance professor at UNLV and is also a board member of Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada, a non-profit organization aimed at improving financial literacy among today’s youth. Adam has also travelled the world in various capacities for the CFA Institute. Originally from Utah, Adam is an avid skier, runner, and enjoys watching and playing the beautiful game; soccer. Adam married UNLV Rebel tennis star Aga Abram in 2004.
