David L. Bahnsen

Chief Investment Officer, Managing Partner

David L. Bahnsen is the founder, Managing Partner, and Chief Investment Officer of The Bahnsen Group, a bi-coastal private wealth management group with offices in Newport Beach, CA and New York City, managing over $1.5 billion in client assets. In 2018, David was named as one of Barron’s Top 100 Independent Advisors, Forbes Top Wealth Advisors, Financial Times Top 300 Registered Investment Advisors, Forbes Best-In-State Advisors, Barron’s Top 1,200 Advisors, and Investopedia Top 100 Influential Advisors.  In April 2015, after eight years as a Chairman's Club Managing Director at Morgan Stanley and seven years as a First Vice President at UBS Financial Services, The Bahnsen Group partnered with the fiduciary focused, HighTower Advisors. David is a frequent guest on CNBC, Bloomberg, and Fox Business and is a regular contributor to National Review and Forbes

David serves on the Board of Directors for the National Review Institute and the Lincoln Club of Orange County and is a founding Trustee for Pacifica Christian High School of Orange County.  He is the author of two books, Crisis of Responsibility: Our Cultural Addiction to Blame and How You Can Cure It (Post Hill Press) and A Case for Dividend Growth (Post Hill Press). 

David's true passions include anything related to USC football, the financial markets, politics, and his house in the desert. His ultimate passions are his lovely wife of 16+ years, Joleen, their gorgeous and brilliant children, sons Mitchell and Graham, and daughter Sadie, and the life they’ve created together in Newport Beach, California.

Kimberlee A. Davis, J.D., CDFA®

Managing Director, Partner

As a Bahnsen Group Managing Director/Partner, Kimberlee specializes in personal wealth advising and oversees financial and retirement planning solutions for high net worth individuals and multi-generational families.   She creates, and guides implementation of, cohesive strategies that incorporate all aspects of clients’ financial lives.

Kimberlee’s proficiency also includes helping individuals transition to financial independence after life-altering events such as death or divorce.  She is a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst®, and has strong experience and knowledge that enables her to analyze and consult on, both the short and long-term financial impact of a range of divorce settlements.  These skills, coupled with her wealth management experience, provides an experienced voice for any pre/post-divorce team.

Kimberlee has established The Fiscal Feminist, a platform from which she strongly advocates for women through her passion to empower and educate them concerning their finances. 

Kimberlee joined The Bahnsen Group at Morgan Stanley in 2014 and was later part of the transition as the Group sought the “fiduciary” route in 2015.

Kimberlee has a diverse background and more than 25 years of finance, legal and corporate experience. She formerly worked as a corporate securities lawyer, investment banker, and Chief Financial Officer.  Kimberlee received her Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service/International Finance, at Georgetown University and also earned a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center.  She currently holds the Series 7 and 66 licenses and the California Life and Health Insurance License.

Kimberlee serves as the Vice Chairwoman for The Valiant Women of the Mission Hospital Foundation in Mission Viejo, California which supports Women’s Health Care and Nursing Education.  She is also a Board Member and the Treasurer of The Foundation for Women Warriors which is a support organization created exclusively to serve the female veteran community with essential programs to empower the personal and professional development of women veterans after their service careers.  Kimberlee is an active member of the British American Business Council of Orange County where she sits on its Board of Directors and its Commerce Committee.  In 2017, she was named as an Advisory Board Member for the University of California, Irvine - The Paul Merage School of Business Center for Investment and Wealth Management.  Kimberlee is an active member of Gen Next, a recognized member of the Connected Women of Influence of Orange County, and previously, was the President of The Junior League of Northern Westchester, New York.

Kimberlee is the proud mother of three amazing daughters Allison, Claire, and Merrill.  Having lived in New York and London before moving to Orange County, Kimberlee enjoys traveling and experiencing other cultures.

Robert E. Graham, CFA®

Partner

Robert is a Partner who provides concierge-level services to select clients of The Bahnsen Group. He also leads and manages our Retirement Plans practice. In this capacity, Robert works with plan sponsors to optimize plan designs and participant outcomes. His focus on and provision of hands-on training, plan options, and program facilitation finds him regularly speaking to large groups of employees who are seeking to better utilize their 401(k) plan and other retirement vehicles that are available to them.

Robert joined The Bahnsen Group in 2013 after working as a Financial Advisor at UBS Financial Services, Inc.

Robert is a Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist (CRPS™) and a CFA Charterholder.

He serves on the Investment Advisory Committee for the City of Irvine, California and on the Orange County Sheriff's Advisory Council. Robert also serves as a Professional Services Responder (PSR) for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department where he provides administrative and leadership support for their public mission.

Don is a Managing Director and Partner in the team's Private Wealth Management practice specializing in helping affluent families develop comprehensive strategies for all phases of wealth accumulation, preservation and transfer. He is also the liaison between our Financial Concierge Services platform and our professional alliances, and serves as the editor of The Financierge – a publication dedicated to thought leadership on topics within our holistic, comprehensive financial service offerings.

With over twenty-five years of major corporate executive experience, Don has formally held positions as Independent Board Director, President, Chief Operations Officer, Managing Director, and Global Chief Information Officer. Don has a MBA from DePaul University and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Economics from Illinois State University. He holds FINRA Series 7, 24, 63 and 65 securities licenses, California life and health insurance licenses, holds a Certified Public Accountant designation from the State of Illinois Board of Examiners, and is a Certified Financial Planner ™.

Don is active in several public and non-profit boards including the Forum of Christian Business Leaders, YMCA, Steadfast Income REIT, Vanguard University and the Grace and Hope Foundation.

A Chicago native, Don has three daughters, a son and lives in Newport Beach, California. His passion is the privilege of serving his family, church, community and helping people achieve their financial and life balance goals.

As a Bahnsen Group Partner and Managing Director of the team’s Private Wealth Advisor Group, Brian manages lead relationship management, investment strategy, financial and retirement planning, and advanced estate planning strategies for our clients.  Brian has a diverse professional background with over 15 years of financial advisory experience including UBS, Smith Barney and most recently at Morgan Stanley where he was promoted to First Vice President. 

Brian holds the Certified Financial Planner ™, and Accredited Investment Fiduciary™ designations, along with the Series 7 and 66 securities and the California Life and Health Insurance License.  Brian received his Bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics from The University of California at Santa Barbara.  Brian lives locally with his wife Sara and daughters Sophie and Anna and adores his active lifestyle with them outside of the office.

Trevor joined The Bahnsen Group in 2016 after 3 years at Morgan Stanley where he worked with clients on a broad range of services. At The Bahnsen Group, Trevor serves on the Investment Committee.

Trevor received his Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Biola University and his MBA from California State University, Fullerton. Sean Latimer works as a private wealth advisor focused on developing comprehensive financial solutions for clients.    Sean joined The Bahnsen Group in 2019 after working as a Financial Planning Specialist at Morgan Stanley where he was named to the Pace Setter Club for 2016, 2017, and 2018.

He also serves on the Investment, Banking, and Audit Committee for the City of Laguna Niguel, California. Sean currently holds the Series 7 and 66 securities licenses along with California Life and Health Insurance license.

Sean is a proud husband to his beautiful wife, Sarah, and father to his two sons, Mason and William.

Brendan Sullivan

Managing Director, Chief Operations Officer

Brendan has more than 15 years of experience in the financial services industry, having joined The Bahnsen Group after already worked closely with us as an Executive Director at HighTower Advisors. His work there focused on managing corporate and field responsibilities including compliance oversight, business economics, technology adoption, platform utilization, facilities, human resources, and all things oriented towards Operational Excellence. Prior to his work at Hightower, Brendan worked with custodial giant, Charles Schwab Advisor Services, offering practice management and consulting services to Registered Investment Advisors.

In his role as the Bahnsen Group's first-ever Chief Operating Officer, Brendan manages the day-to-day business operations, serves as the direct report for all department directors, and provides significant relief for the team's Managing Partner, David Bahnsen.

Brendan earned his Bachelor of Science Degree with a minor in History from Roger Williams University. Brendan loves all things outdoors, from surfing and beach volleyball, to fly fishing mountain rivers, to helicopter skiing. Brendan enjoys quality time with his wife, Janine, and their three active and energetic sons, William, James, and Jack.

Deiya Pernas, CFA®

Managing Director, Solutions and Analytics

As Managing Director, Deiya serves in a leadership position in our Solutions and Analytics group, working directly with the Chief Investment Officer on all portfolio and asset allocation decisions. Deiya heads our Manager Research and Diligence efforts, and is responsible for portfolio analytics, client performance reporting, trading and execution, and overall investment solutions.

Deiya is to essential to all aspects of trading, asset allocation, performance reporting and manager selection. He manages the infrastructure & processes responsible to achieve both scale and enhance customization in the portfolio management process.

Deiya joined The Bahnsen Group in 2014 at Morgan Stanley and was a key part of our transition efforts the following year. He has four years of honorable service in the United States Air Force where he was an F-15 Fighter technician. In addition, for a period of 365 days he was assigned to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base’s Honor Guard as part of the Air Force’s Mortuary Affairs Program. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from University of California, Berkeley and is a CFA Charterholder. He currently holds the Series 7 and 66 licenses.

Kenny Molina

Associate, Solutions and Analytics

Kenny works in the Solutions and Analytics department, focused on equity and bond trading, portfolio analytics, and client performance reporting. Kenny blends a methodical analytic approach with creative and lateral concepts to provide the team with results-driven insight, allowing us to better help our clients achieve their objectives.

Before joining The Bahnsen Group, Kenny was a wealth management analyst with Valensi Rose, PLC, a boutique law practice situated in Century City. He assisted in improving and standardizing financial schedules, overseeing data entry, and provided departmental analytics.

Kenny completed his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, and currently holds the Series 65 license.

Camille Mesite

Associate, Service and Operations

Camille works within our Service and Operations Department assisting in the daily needs of our clients.

Camille is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, with a BA in Advertising in the College of Journalism.  She started her career in New York City and has over 30 years of experience in brokerage, mutual fund sales and asset management with Dean Witter Reynolds, Oppenheimer & Co, and Fred Alger Management in New York; followed by Shearson Lehman Hutton, Palley-Needelman Asset Management and Metropolitan West Capital Management in Newport Beach.

She is a Board Member of the Orange County Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association.  Besides cheering on the Nittany Lions, she enjoys going to concerts, Anaheim Ducks hockey and using her Disneyland annual pass.

Alexis Olgard

Associate, Service and Operations

Alexis Olgard joins us from the University of Southern California where she was the Director of Operations for USC Volleyball.

Prior to her working for USC, she worked in sales development for Highspot Inc., a software company providing sales enablement tools and software for improving marketing effectiveness. 

Alexis graduated with a B.S. in sociology from USC where she was also a starting volleyball player earning the AVCA All-America honors in 2013. Alexis went on to play professionally including contracts in Germany, South Korea, and the Philippines and was a member of the USA Women’s National Training Team competing for Team USA at the 2014 NORCECA Continental Olympic Qualifier.

Ashley Clark works within our Service and Operations Department assisting in the daily needs of our clients.
 
Ashley is a graduate from Chapman University, with a BA in Liberal Studies.  Prior to joining the Bahnsen Group, she has spent the last seven years at a prominent RIA and banking institution supporting advisors and clients in operations and client service.  Ashley also brings with her significant project management experience in assisting growing businesses build and execute on key initiatives.

Ericca brings stellar experience in client service and office management to The Bahnsen Group. Prior to joining us, she managed the office of an international manufacturing company in Orange County, covering more than fifty employees.  She possesses great skill in business administration and has a real passion for supporting the client experience and advisors at The Bahnsen Group.

A devoted mother, Ericca enjoys outdoor activities, year-round youth sports, and days at the beach.  Relaxation usually involves yoga or long runs and time well spent with family.  Ericca also serves in the community events of her mother’s church.

Brian K. Tong

Director, Strategy and Communications

Brian leads The Strategy and Communications department which is responsible for the curation and cultivation of the collective thoughts and wisdom of The Bahnsen Group.

He supports the creation and distribution of the many forms of communications created by the thought leaders of the company and connects to the public through a host of digital methods and channels, providing preferred points of contact to an interested public.  Utilizing his years of experience in marketing and branding, he crafts new ways to reach the current and future clients of the group so that the investment philosophies and principles that drive The Bahnsen Group can serve them in their financial lives.

Brian received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of California, Irvine.

Glen Hall

Associate, Strategy and Communications

In his consulting capacity, Glen provides analysis and guidance regarding the customer experiences that we create and deliver on our various digital platforms.  Glen supports the Strategy and Communications department with deep digital and creative marketing experience he gained over the last 20 years, as a Partner of the Brainyard advertising agency where he produced well over 100 websites.  Glen has both front and backend coding skills that brings The Bahnsen Group senior level deployment of digital initiatives.  Glen provides deep analysis through the use of enterprise level tools to help create a functional yet simple online experience

His early professional experience was spent in financial accounting and the design of control and reporting systems for a variety of financial institutions, the Resolution Trust Corporation, and for a host of digital startups.

Glen received his Bachelor’s in Economics and Master’s in Business Administration from the University of California, Irvine.

Joleen Bahnsen

Director, Style & Experience

Joleen Bahnsen leads our Style & Experience Department (S&E), birthed out of a desire to escalate the client experience at The Bahnsen Group, and to build a consistent and professional brand profile in the marketplace.  She manages all client events and brand fidelity and directs our efforts with community events and sponsorships.

Joleen has served at several national agencies, working on such prominent accounts as Hilton Worldwide, UPS, and Del Webb.

Joleen holds a Bachelor of Communication from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and has been a part of The Bahnsen Group since its founding.  She has been married to our Managing Partner since 2001.

Kelsey Thompson

Executive Assistant

Kelsey serves as the Executive Assistant to our Managing Partner, and is based in our New York City office. She is the direct conduit to Mr. Bahnsen, and deeply involved in client service, meeting facilitation, and all high level administrative needs.

Kelsey is a graduate of The King’s College in Lower Manhattan with a B.A. in Media, Culture and the Arts as well as a former professional ballet dancer. She served as the Executive Assistant at Central Presbyterian Church on Park Avenue before joining The Bahnsen Group. Kelsey enjoys dancing part-time with a NYC-based ballet company, frequent visits to art museums and exploring New York City.

Rayna Austin

Controller

Rayna serves as Controller, responsible for financial operations, and is based in our Newport Beach office. 

Rayna served as an Executive Assistant at Capstone Partners for four years before joining The Bahnsen Group. She has over five years of experience in management consulting, business development and accounting services. Rayna is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and holds a B.A in Criminal Justice and minor in Psychology. She also earned her Paralegal Certification from the University of California, Irvine, and her Accounting and Quickbooks Certifications from the National Association of Certified Public Bookkeepers.

Michael Klarin, CPA

Tax Advisory

Michael is a graduate of Villanova University, and began his career at a “Big Four” accounting firm, where he spent four years with KPMG, working in both Orange County, CA and Philadelphia, PA. Michael returned to California in 1995 and to join the family firm and it has been his home ever since, working alongside a team of other accounting professionals including his father, Dennis.  Michael has held leadership positions in the Orange County/Long Beach Chapter of CalCPA, including serving as chapter president. 

Michael's passion in his accounting practice is developing relationships with clients.  He believes that proper tax planning gives an opportunity to understand people as individuals, and not merely to study their numbers. He prides himself on his ability to formulate customized plans and then guide and support clients in the execution.

Michael's passions include college basketball (especially with Villanova regularly in the hunt for a national championship).  He particularly enjoys time and travel with his family.

Tanya Weinheimer, CPA

Tax Advisory

Tanya began her career at Coopers & Lybrand where she gained experience in both audit and tax work.  She subsequently held inside positions at the internal tax departments of a restaurant company in Irvine and a multi-national manufacturing company in Long Beach.  Eventually, Tanya balanced her career and family priorities by establishing her own firm.  This led to her partnership in a specialty firm in Irvine, CA.  She possesses vast experience in complex tax planning, both personal and corporate tax minimization strategies, and is highly regarded by her clients for her ability to do sophisticated accounting work without sacrificing her impressive personal touch.

Tanya is passionate about her community and has utilized her accounting skills to support several organizations over the years.  When not serving clients, she can be found hiking with her three adult children and husband of 27 years, attending Bible study, and playing tennis as much as possible.
