HighTower Bethesda is a ten-person, multi-disciplinary team composed of five Fiduciary Financial Advisors and four Associates. With over 50 years of combined private wealth management experience, Stephen, Jeff and Evan have witnessed multiple economic crises, bubbles and recoveries. Additionally, Leah and Sarah respectively bring deep backgrounds in financial planning and business succession planning to the team.

 
Each advisor’s experiences, specialties and the talents of our supporting team members position HighTower Bethesda to help individuals, families, small business owners and institutions optimize their wealth to achieve their long-term objectives.

Jeff Leventhal CIMA®, CEPA®

Managing Director, Partner

Jeff Leventhal joined HighTower as Managing Director and Partner in 2011. Previously he served as Senior Vice President of Investments at UBS. He has over 20 years of experience in finance and was selected by Barron’s in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2016 as one of the Top 1000 Financial Advisors.

In addition to being a Barron’s top advisor he was also selected as one of Barron’s 2016 Top 20 advisors in Maryland. Most recently Jeff was featured by the Financial Times in 2016 as one of the top 300 Registered Investment Advisers in the country. The Washington Business Journal recognized HighTower Bethesda as an NABCAP* Premier Advisor because of their high quality in Wealth Management.

Mr. Leventhal specializes in complex financial planning, estate-planning strategies, institutional money management and small business consulting. Mr. Leventhal is a graduate of Towson University where he majored in Business Administration and he is a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association.

Managing Director, Partner

Stephen Rosen is a respected financial advisor, servicing clients for more than 21 years. He joined HighTower as Managing Director and Partner in 2013. Prior to joining Hightower, Mr. Rosen served as Senior Vice President at UBS, where he was selected to the UBS Global Circle of Excellence, an honor held for the Top 150 advisors globally, and Morgan Stanley.

Most recently, in 2014 and 2016 Stephen was featured by the Financial Times as one of the top 300 Registered Investment Advisers in the country while The Washington Business Journal  recognized HighTower Bethesda  as a NABCAP* Premier Advisor because of their high quality in Wealth Management (2011-2014).

Stephen focuses in alternative investments, financial planning and portfolio management for high-net-worth individuals and their families, as well as exit planning for business owners.  Stephen is a graduate from the University of Michigan and a native New Yorker. He currently resides in Potomac, Maryland with his wife and two children. Stephen is an avid golfer and an enthusiastic coach for his children's sports teams.

Evan I. Nowack CIMA®

Managing Director, Partner

Evan Nowack joined HighTower from UBS, where he served as Vice President of Investments. Evan has over 15 years of experience and specializes in asset allocation modeling, investment strategy, and financial planning. 

Evan is a graduate of the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, where he majored in Finance. Evan earned his CIMA designation after graduating from the Certified Investment Management Analyst certification program at the University of Pennsylvania, The Wharton’s School. Additionally, Evan is a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association. 

Five years in a row, 2011-2015, the Washington Business Journal recognized HighTower Bethesda as a NABCAP* Premier Advisor for high-quality expertise in Wealth Management. In 2014 and 2016, Evan was featured in the Financial Times as one of the Top 300 Registered Investment Advisors in the United States.

Mr. Nowack enjoys spending quality time with his wife and three children. He is an ardent outdoorsman and enjoys biking, golfing, and skiing.

Leah Jones CFP®, CDFA®, AEP®

Leah Jones CFP®, CDFA®, AEP®

Director of Financial Planning

Leah, a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) professional, Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®), and Accredited Estate Planner (AEP®).  She is the Director of Financial Planning at HighTower Bethesda.   Leah’s primary focus is on developing custom financial plans as well as providing estate and insurance consultations.  She specializes in complex financial planning and implementation, providing holistic guidance, client relationship management and investment consulting.

Leah is a seasoned, client-focused financial professional with more than 13 years of brokerage, asset management, and RIA private wealth management experience.  Prior to HighTower Bethesda, Ms. Jones served as a Relationship Manager at CITI Private Wealth Management, where she focused on building and deepening relationships through a thorough assessment and understanding of clients’ financial needs.  She previously worked for an impressive roster of companies, including TD Ameritrade, E*Trade Financial and JP Morgan (Chase). 

Ms. Jones graduated from the Smith School of Business, University of Maryland at College Park, where she majored in Finance and holds citations in CIVICUS and Hinman CEO Programs.  She holds the CFP®, CDFA®, and AEP® designations, Series 7, 65, 63, Life and Health licenses. 

Outside of work Ms. Jones enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading, and doing anything active.

Jania Stout

Jania Stout

Practice Leader, Co-Founder

Jania Stout, Managing Director, Co-Founder of Fiduciary Plan Advisors at HighTower, brings over 20 years of experience in ERISA plan consulting to the organization. Prior to HighTower she founded the Fiduciary Consulting Group at PSA in 2009 and grew the practice from approximately $300 million to nearly $3 billion in assets over 5 years. 
  
Jania began her career at ADP’s Retirement Services Division and spent 10 years helping them become one of the largest retirement plan providers in the country. During her time at ADP, she worked with channel partners such as Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and Bank of America. Jania then became a Senior Account Executive for Fidelity Investments. While at Fidelity, Jania built retirement plan solutions for mid-market companies. Jania gained tremendous exposure to the challenges plan sponsors face and their need to have a fiduciary partner. This exposure led her to leave Fidelity and form a team of consultants that had a unified focus on helping plan sponsors with their fiduciary responsibilities. 
  
Jania has been featured in the Washington Post, 401(k) Wire and 401(k) Advisor Magazine. Her team won one of the most prestigious awards in the industry in 2013; the 401(k) Advisor Leadership Award sponsored by National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA).

Ms. Stout was appointed to the Leadership Council of National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA) in spring of 2014. The Council is charged with setting the strategic direction and making policy decisions on all matters related to NAPA’s mission. Membership is comprised of nine voting member advisors—defined as individuals who are focused on advisory services directly to plan sponsors and their participants. She is a regular speaker at the Plan Sponsor National Conference as well as a contributor to many industry publications. 

Jania holds her FINRA Series, 7, 6, 63 and 66. Ms. Stout was a two sport Division 1 athlete and graduated with a double major from Hofstra University. She is a 2008 graduate of the Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC) Leadership program and a board member of the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland. In her free time she coaches girls’ lacrosse and is the lacrosse commissioner at LTRC where she oversees 36 youth teams across the state. She resides in Phoenix, MD with her two daughters, Hannah and Sophie.

Dominique Lewis is a Client Service Associate at HighTower Bethesda. With a client-first focus and keen attention to detail, Dominique brings a strong professional background in client service, administration and business operations to the team.

Dominique is responsible for client enrollment, as well as fulfilling client service requests in an organized and timely manner. She also focuses on supporting the team’s day-to-day operations to ensure an efficient and excellent client experience.

Prior to HighTower, Dominique served as a Private Banking Associate at BNY Mellon Wealth Management, where she focused on client service support, client account openings, as well as administrative and operational tasks. Dominique previously held roles as a Securities Operations Specialist, as well as a Senior Dividend Specialist at BNY Mellon.

Dominique earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Point Park University’s School of Business. In her free time, Dominique enjoys volunteering at her church, traveling, and making jewelry.

 

Jacqueline Lonnerdal

After receiving her diploma from Pace University with a BA in psychology, Jacqueline worked at The Premcor Refining Group, Inc. as a contract administrator. She joined Morgan Stanley in 2006, working in Commodities Operations, where she focused on trade support and execution. In 2010, Jacqueline relocated to Washington, DC and joined The Leventhal Group at UBS as a Client Service Associate. She holds the Series 7 and 66 securities licenses. Jacqueline brings over 7 years of industry experience and a high level of client service. She enjoys horseback riding, volunteering at the stables and traveling.

Deborah offers over 18 years of high-end customer service experience in the DC area. She holds the series 7 and 66 securities licenses. She earned a BA in fine arts from Rhode Island School of Design and enjoys hiking, skiing, scuba diving, photography, and painting with her two daughters.
Courtney Smith

Courtney consistently upholds a high-level of service to high net worth individuals. She joined HighTower in 2013 as a Registered Client Service Associate. Previously, Courtney worked at UBS as a Client Service Associate. She is a graduate of Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida. Courtney lives in Washington, D.C. and enjoys reading and travelling.
