Alan A. Fischer

Alan A. Fischer

Managing Director

Mr. Fischer focuses on portfolio management, asset allocation, and business strategy. Prior to forming Fischer & Company, Mr. Fischer was President of the Charter Division of Wells Fargo Equipment Finance, Inc., a diversified financial services organization. Mr. Fischer founded Charter Financial, Inc. in 1982 and served as the CEO until it was acquired by the Wells Fargo Company in October 2000. Prior to founding Charter, Mr. Fischer founded Commercial Funding, Inc., a diversified equipment finance and merchant banking company, in 1973. Commercial Funding was acquired by the Nordic Group of Banks in 1982. In that same year, Mr. Fischer founded A.A. Fischer & Co., an investment asset management company. The company has continually invested for its own account since inception.

Mr. Fischer has served in the merchant banking and finance industry for more than 40 years. He is the past Chairman of the Board of the ELA, a financial industry association comprised of more than 800 banks and financial institutions. Mr. Fischer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and English from New York University’s College of Arts & Sciences. He is also a recipient of an honorary doctorate from the Weizmann Institute of Science.

Mr. Fischer’s philanthropic and civic activities include serving as Chairman Emeritus of the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science, member of the Executive Board of the Weizmann Institute of Science, Chairman Emeritus of Midori and Friends, member of the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and member of the Chairman’s Council of the American Ballet Theatre. He is the past President of the JCC of Mid-Westchester and past Chairman of the Banking Division of the UJA Federation.

David Choe

David Choe

Managing Director

Mr. Choe focuses on investment analysis, manager research, and portfolio management. He also enjoys discussing specific investment strategies with clients and deeply values the personal relationships that the Fischer & Company team forms with its clients.

Mr. Choe has been in the investment business since 1997 and joined Fischer & Company in 2003. Previously, Mr. Choe was an Investment Analyst for UBS Global Asset Management (GAM), where he focused on researching, selecting and monitoring U.S. long-short equity hedge funds. He began his career at Salomon Smith Barney, where he focused on selecting and monitoring investment managers for institutional defined benefit and defined contribution plans.

Mr. Choe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles and an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago.

Rodney van Vlerken, CFA®

Rodney van Vlerken, CFA®

Sr. Research Analyst

Mr. van Vlerken focuses on manager research, asset class research, security analysis, and private deal analysis. He joined Fischer & Company in 2015 and brings seven years of prior investment experience to our team. Prior to joining Fischer & Company, he was an investment manager at Waypoint Investments, a private family office. He began his career at Putnam Investments, where he served as an investment associate for the Global Asset Allocation team. Mr. van Vlerken is a CFA® charter holder. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern University in Mathematics and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
Lana Gurevich

Lana Gurevich

Account Manager / Controller

Ms. Gurevich is responsible for servicing client investment portfolios. She is also the controller for the Fischer Funds, and manages finance and accounting for the Fischer & Company team. Prior to joining Fischer & Company, Ms. Gurevich was a Vice President at Bank of America/Merrill Lynch’s Alternative Investments platform, where she spent nine years focusing on financial reporting, operational and administrative oversight of various hedge funds and hedge funds of funds with $1.5 billion in assets in aggregate. From 2004-2005, Ms. Gurevich was a corporate accountant for UBS Global Asset Management (GAM), where she was responsible for maintaining books and records, as well as financial analysis and reporting, of various advisory entities. Ms. Gurevich holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and Investments from Baruch College.
Stephanie Scutari

Stephanie Scutari

Account Manager

Ms. Scutari is responsible for servicing client investment portfolios. Ms. Scutari plays an integral role in maintaining complex account structures, as well as monitoring investment portfolios and target asset class exposures. She serves as clients’ main connecting point to their other service providers, including lawyers, accountants, executive assistants, and custodians. Ms. Scutari also oversees client onboarding and portfolio maintenance, including account opening, funding, portfolio rebalancing, and client reporting. Ms. Scutari graduated Cum Laude from the Baruch College Honors Program with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology on a full academic scholarship. Ms. Scutari was a Dean’s list scholar and is a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honors Society.
Jill Fischer

Jill Fischer

Account Manager

Ms. Fischer focuses on managing client’s investment portfolios and acts as a primary point of contact for client service needs. Her responsibilities also include marketing and investor relations with a focus on enhancing the client experience. Prior to joining to Fischer & Company, Ms. Fischer spent six years designing and implementing marketing programs, serving a broad base of corporate clients targeting the entertainment and media industries. Ms. Fischer’s diverse experience in building and maintaining client relationships provides Fischer & Company with the resources to better serve existing clients as well as the ability to broaden our business development efforts. She has worked for prominent media and entertainment companies, both in Los Angeles and New York, including Vogue, E! Networks, Bragman, Nyman and Cafarelli, and Paramount Pictures. Ms. Fischer holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan, where she received multiple national and university awards for outstanding scholarship.
