Philanthropy Conference 2015 Introduction

published on Sep 23, 2015
This event explored current trends in philanthropy as well as best practices from philanthropists themselves – those that support organizations in a substantial way via donation, time or both. Panel participants discussed their motivations, the structures they use and the accountability they require to fund major projects.

A Sunday Drive with Tesla

MK Wealth Management hosted an event at Tesla where everybody was able to test drive a Tesla. A Sunday brunch was enjoyed while perusing the dealership and learning a little more about the vehicle and how it runs. It was amazing to drive the car and see what it could do. We were all impressed with the innovation that is going on in the automotive industry. Thank you to everyone for making this such a successful and fun event!

Client Appreciation Casino Night

We held a Casino Night and Client Appreciation for our clients.  In addition, we made a donation to the American Heart Association in our client’s honor.  We had a wonderful turnout and everyone received fun money to play the game of their choice.  We were all able to take our turn at Craps, Black Jack, Slots and Texas Hold-um.  It didn’t matter if you knew how to play or not because the croupier helped teach those who were playing for the first time.

At the end of the evening we had a Chinese Auction where everyone received a chance to win some great prizes.  In addition, it was for a great cause.  A representative from the American Heart Association spoke about new and exciting advances they are seeing within the industry.  From food, drinks, playing and an American Heart Association update, a good time was had by all.

Ronald McDonald House of Long Island “Meals from the Heart”

MK Wealth Management and their families got together to sponsor a dinner for the families of the sick children in the hospital.
We came up with a theme dinner of “Southwestern” and gathered recipes to make a fun dinner for the families.  Mark, Meryl and Sammi made their very special Chili dish while Stefanie’s Mom, Joan, and our intern Alexa were given the job of making the Spicy Southwestern slaw.   Robert, our other intern worked feverishly chopping onion after onion which we needed in all of our recipes.  Stefanie and Cathy took charge of the Black Bean “Dirty” rice dish while Marc slaved over 2 barbeques cooking enough chicken cutlets for 75 people.  In the end we all came together to make the salad set up the buffet counter complete with chips, salsa and a seven layer dip to top it off.
It was a fulfilling experience to come together and do something nice for our community.  We are so happy the dinner was such a success.
