Paul Rand

Managing Director, Partner

Paul Rand is a Managing Director, Partner at The Rand Group at HighTower. With a diverse background in financial services and small business operations, he offers a distinct perspective on wealth management, preservation and growth.

Paul specializes in financial planning and investment management services for individuals, families, businesses and charitable organizations. His robust investment knowledge and attention to detail enables him to help clients identify investment opportunities and create long-term plans to reach their goals.

Previously, Paul was a Vice President at Morgan Stanley, where for 15 years he focused on helping clients understand complex financial decisions and formulate focused and comprehensive plans.

Paul was recognized as a Five Star Wealth Advisor in 2009 and from 2013-2016, as well as a recipient of the NABCAP Premier Advisor Award from 2011-2014. He is an alumnus of the University of Colorado Boulder and holds the Series 7, 31, 63, 65 and Insurance licenses.

Outside of work, Paul believes in giving back to the community, including assisting various philanthropic organizations with their financial management and investment decisions. Away from work, Paul is an avid cook, enjoying cuisines from around the world and teaching others the science of food in his custom kitchen. He enjoys golf, skiing, snowboarding, body surfing, long walks with his wife Dee, and building Legos with his son Max.

Joel Rand

Managing Director, Partner

Joel Rand is a Managing Director, Partner at The Rand Group at HighTower. He brings more than three decades of industry experience to the team and strives to help clients prepare for the future, enjoy their prosperity and enhance their financial lives.

Joel focuses on the development of comprehensive financial plans, retirement planning solutions, portfolio construction and asset liability management. His approach to investment management combines robust investment knowledge with diligent and ethical implementation to help clients make prudent investment decisions.

Prior to HighTower, Joel was a First Vice President, Senior Investment Management Consultant and Wealth Advisor at Morgan Stanley. He also served in a variety of leadership positions throughout his 31 years with the firm.

Joel was recognized as a Five Star Wealth Advisor from 2013-2016, and was a recipient of the NABCAP Premier Advisor Award from 2011-2014. He was also a member of Morgan Stanley’s prestigious Directors Club from 2003-2008 and honored as a Paul Harris Fellow of The Rotary Foundation.

Joel earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Finance from the University of Colorado Boulder. He holds a Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) designation, as well as the Series 7, 31, 66 and Insurance licenses.

Joel is an active member of the Rotary Club of Kahului. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, cooking, traveling, running, music, reading, movies, yoga and spending time with his wife, Pauline, and their labradoodle, Roxy.

Sarah Minakary

Managing Director, Partner

Sarah Minakary is a Managing Director, Partner at The Rand Group at HighTower. With nearly a decade of financial services experience, Sarah is dedicated to providing clients with objective advice, thoughtful guidance and investment solutions that help them realize their dreams.

Sarah specializes in financial planning, asset allocation and retirement planning. She works with clients to build holistic, balanced plans focused on both long-term objectives and current needs.

Previously, Sarah served as a Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley, where she focused on the development of wealth management strategies and investment solutions.

Sarah was recognized as a Five Star Wealth Advisor from 2013-2016, and was a recipient of the NABCAP Premier Advisor Award from 2011-2014. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with an emphasis on Management from the University of California at Irvine. She is currently an MBA Candidate at University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business. Sarah earned her designation as a Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) and holds the Series 7, 31, 66 and Insurance licenses.

Sarah is an active member of several local philanthropic organizations, including City of Hope, Junior League of Orange County, Special Olympics, Junior Achievements and A Better LA. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys live music, spending time with family and friends, hiking and spoiling her niece, Kate.
