FEARLESS WOMEN: Lady Liberty and Fearless Girl

For our weekly Fearless Women blog posts we typically focus on a single woman doing something today.

This week two iconic fearless women were in the news and we could not resist featuring them together as both stories tug at our hearts.

“Liberty Enlightening the World” was in the news this week as the original 3600-pound torch was moved from the pedestal exhibit space to its new home in the Museum and Garden Pavilion scheduled to open May 2019.

The original torch designed by Frederic August Bartholdi and build by Gustave Eiffel served as a beacon light to immigrants for almost a century before being replaced in the 1980s due to leakage causing damage to the greater body.

The new museum will give visitors to Liberty Island a glimpse into Bartholdi’s studio and allow them to touch life size replicas of the Lady Liberty’s iconic face and foot

Leave it to “Fearless Girl” to keep us hopping!  She disappeared from Wall Street finally leaving the “Charging Bull” in peace.

In her stead is a plaque bearing two footsteps reading “Fearless Girl is on the move to The New York Stock Exchange. Until she’s there, stand for her.”

Since her debut in March 2017 thousands of visitors have proudly taken their photos with her.

If you happen to be in New York and visit the “Charging Bull” on Wall Street, snap a pic of your standing in her stead and share it with us.  We would love to see it!!  #fearlesswomen
