For Lauren, family is the most important aspect of her life. Her husband, Andrew, is a minister and the dean of a larger church in Birmingham, the Cathedral Church of the Advent. She is also the mother of three smart and brave daughters. Lily, Mary Cabell and Ware. To date, she’s convinced two out of the three that they should attend the University of Georgia, her alma mater.
Growing up, Lauren moved around a fair amount because of her father’s career. Moving around frequently helped her understand that if you are going to know people and places for a short amount of time, it’s best to reframe the way you think about time. If you only have four years, what are you going to do to make a difference? The first thing she learned was to understand people quickly; to ask the right questions and celebrate differences. The second thing was to commit significant time to community service, which she has done since the age of fifteen. In Birmingham, she serves on the boards of directors of Cornerstone Schools of Alabama, the United Way of Central Alabama, and the Alabama Planned Giving Council.
While Lauren doesn’t have many mainstream hobbies, she is very interested in learning about everything. If research is considered a hobby, that would be her thing as this curiosity is well-suited for her profession. To support this passion professionally, Lauren obtained her Certified Financial Planner™ certification.
Having said this, the work doesn’t have to be unique for it to be important to her and to the families with whom she works. The impact of putting a thoughtful plan in place will last for generations, and she understands the depth of this responsibility. What you will see and read from her online footprint is that she principally engages in personal financial planning, asset allocation, portfolio construction and charitable gifting strategies for professionals and families. The key marker of these relationships is trust, transparency and confidentiality.
This is the work she has been doing for over a decade, first at Merrill Lynch and now at HighTower, advising and crafting hundreds of planning scenarios, and it is what she hopes to do for the remainder of her career. It is deeply important that she do great work for the clients whom she serves.
Humbled by the recognition that she has received, she was named one of Forbes 2017 “America’s Top Next-Generation Wealth Advisors,” featured on the list of the Birmingham Business Journal 2017 “Women to Watch” and listed as a “Top Wealth Advisor Mom” for Working Mother magazine.
Beyond her family and faith, her practice is her life’s work. It is a privilege for her to establish the Birmingham office for HighTower Twickenham and to serve families across the United States.
